It’s hot here, very hot and very humid all of a sudden. I forgot that in the summer in Texas, everyone stays inside for the majority of the day because it’s just too intense to be outside. I walked and swam today, made romesco sauce, walked the dog again. As always, the only solution is forward motion. Or as my dad says, “motion is lotion.” Here’s what I’m listening to this week.
My Favorite Mistake - Sheryl Crow :: I’ve been thinking about this song and about Sheryl Crow a lot. The discipline required to persist. She sang with Michael Jackson on tour, which is still sort of mind-blowing to me. In her documentary, she talked about working shifts at a restaurant and then coming home and singing into a handheld tape cassette recorder and then listening back so she could get better at singing.
Lucky - Dora Jar :: Dora Jar is new to me, which is dumb because everyone already knows. But now I know too. It’s interesting to see someone so young and know that they’re a legacy artist.
Stateside - PinkPantheress :: This is my song of the summer. I love her. I love the video. I love the chorus. I love loving things.
Call It (feat. Eddie Chacon) - PREP :: I love this song and it feels like, energetically speaking, it’s fucking everywhere. Yay.
I hope it is cool where you are.
